The trio, 22-year-old Gilberto DaSilva and 20-year-old Angel Figeura, both of Barranes Venezuela and Blankenburg, Essequibo Coast and, 22-year-old Naeem Baksh, a gold miner of Airy Hall, Essequibo Coast, will make their first virtual Court appearance today at the Port Kaituma Magistrates’ Court.
Police said that the murder charge was recommended by the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The three men allegedly killed Alman at around 17:30h at White Water Backdam, North West District (NWD).
Initial enquiries disclosed that the deceased’s reputed wife was at their shop the suspects approached and held her by her hair. Having observed this, Alman went to the woman’s aid. It was then that two of the three suspects pounced on him and dealt him several lashes about his body with a piece of wood until he became motionless.

The gold miner was then dragged a short distance away where one of the suspects took out a knife and slit his throat as his accomplice held him down. The trio then returned to the shop where they removed a quantity of raw gold.
Alman’s reputed wife was unharmed.

Alman was picked up by the police and taken to Port Kaituma Hospital where he was pronounced dead. His body remains at the Port Kaituma Hospital Mortuary where it awaits a post mortem examination.
Police arrested the trio on Saturday at about 09:00h at the Port Kaituma Water Front.
