Bartica’s Mayor Gifford Marshall, 40, and Rudolph Marhsall, 38, have been placed on self-bail following a serious accident which occurred on Tuesday at Four Miles Potaro Road, Bartica (Cuyuni-Mazaruni). According to police at about 18:20h, it is alleged by Rudolph Marshall of Five Miles Housing Scheme, Bartica and the driver of motor jeep # PTT 8073, that he was blinded by the light on the pickup #PWW 7126 owned by the Mayor and Town Council of Bartica and driven Bartica Mayor, Gifford Marshall. This caused him to slow down when Marti Subratti, 19, of Carabese Hill Bartica, driver of motorcycle CK 5078, collided into the rear of his jeep, lost control and then collided into Mayor Marshall’s pickup.

The 19-year-old fell to the road and received injuries about his body. He was picked up by Rudolph Marshall in a conscious condition and taken to the Bartica Regional Hospital where he was admitted and is being treated. Breathalyser tests were conducted on the drivers. Their alcohol range were all found to be below the prescribed limit. Rudolph Marshall was also released on self-bail pending investigations.
