…after finding gun stashed in kitchen garden

A 48-year-old Corentyne, Berbice man has bee  held after his son found an unlicenced gun and turned it into the police

In a release police said that about 08:10hrs on Sunday the juvenile visited the No. 51 Police Station and  handed over a black plastic bag containing a suspected pistol  which he claimed was placed by his father, age 48 yrs of No. 51 Village, in the home garden, which he was at the time watering.

As a result, the Police went to the home where they contacted the father and told him of their suspicion and of the offence committed and cautioned him after which he denied ownership.

According to police a search was then conducted on his home and in the said garden for illegal arms and ammunition, but nothing illegal was found.  He was afterwards arrested and taken to the said station where he was placed into custody pending further investigation.
