Four persons were on Thursday night injured in an accident on the No. 59 Public Road, East Berbice- Corentyne (Region Six).

The injured are 23-year-old Dellon Fields of No. 77 Village and 22-year-old Mark Captain of Lot 12 Brighton Village Corentyne, both police constables stationed at the Whim Police Station and Nickassie Joseph and Teasha Pestano of No. 53 and No. 51 Villages respectively and both of whom are nurses attached to the Skeldon Public Hospital.

A Police report revealed that Fields was driving motorcar PYY 5070 and proceeding north along the No.59 Public Road at a fast rate when he swerved from a cow that was positioned in the centre of the road. As a result, he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a culvert on the western side of the road.

The driver and the three passengers received injures about their bodies and were taken to the Skeldon Public Hospital in a conscious state where they were examined by a duty.

The nurses were admitted to the hospital while the two constables were treated and sent away.

An investigation is ongoing.
