A businessman is counting his losses after his Caricom Auto Sales and Spare Parts business, located at Lusignan, East Coast Demerara went up into flames on Friday afternoon.

Owner of property, Imran Inshan estimated his losses at $150M. It is believed that a disgruntled customer set fire to the building.

Inshan added that the origin of the fire may be of an arson act and two employees were in the building when a customer approached and asked about the availability of a car part.

The customer then allegedly threw a piece of paper into the office. Shortly after, an explosion occurred and the building was engulfed in flames.

Firefighters were later summoned and managed to contain the blaze, but the building was already destroyed.
