The robbery occurred about 10:05 hours, at M.Alli Gas Station, located at Main and King Streets, New Amsterdam Berbice.

Enquiries disclosed that on the date and time mentioned above, the victim was at the gas station preparing to leave the location to take the night’s sales to his employer. However while he was standing outside waiting for his employer’s car to pick him up, the two suspects rode into the filling station. The pillion rider immediately dismounted from the motorcycle, approached the victim and held on to the bag he had in his possession. The victim refused to release the said bag and as a consequence the suspect shot him to his right upper back; at that point the victim let go of  the bag. The suspect then rejoined his accomplice on the motorcycle and they made good their escape in an easterly direction with the said bag containing the undisclosed sum of cash.

Investigations are continuing.
