Another teen found dead in West Berbice

– believed to be relative of suspect in killing of Henry boys

A 17-year-old boy believed to be a relative of one of the suspects held for the slaughter of two cousins at Cotton Tree Village, West Coast Berbice over the weekend was found dead aback No.3 Village Wednesday morning.

Police confirmed that Haresh Singh, age 17, of Number 3 Village, West Coast Berbice was killed during the morning of Wednesday 09 September, 2020.

Information received so far is that the victim left home on his motorcycle to attend his farm in the Backdam of No. 3 Vilage, West Coast Berbice. Sometime after his relatives saw smoke arising from the said backdam and left to enquire, when they discovered the body of Haresh Singh lying motionless and bleeding from the nose.  His motor cycle was also discovered burnt.

Police are on the ground and continuing the investigation.

Police also bemoaned what it said are the the continued attacks on Law and Order on the West Coast Berbice and the recent murder of Haresh Singh.

“This murder happened, even as we assured citizens that we will leave no stones unturned during the investigation,” the statement read.

“The Force wishes to go on record to say that it will pursue the investigation of Haresh Singh with the same intensity it did for Joel and Isaiah Henry and will most certainly bring the perpetrators to justice.
The Commissioner of Police takes this opportunity to warn citizens to desist from all unlawful acts, which only threaten to further deteriorate law and order in the country.  Failing which, all efforts will be made to prosecute offenders to the fullest extent of the law.

Further, persons are advised to desist from publishing and sharing unverified and sensitive information, which could further inflame tensions.”
