PNCR leaders in community outreach at Buxton/Foulis, East Coast Demerara

Guyana, Türkiye move to strengthen parliamentary cooperation

Over the weekend Members of Parliament (MPs) Roysdale Forde S.C and Maureen Philadelphia, and former Mayor Pt. Ubraj Narine were engaged in successful community outreaches on the East Coast of Demerara. They were joined by elected Councillors of Buxton/ Foulis NDC Mr. Oswel Williams and Cheryl McPherson.
In a statement, the People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR) said the trio had vibrant outreach sessions in Buxton village, which proved to be a tremendous success, allowing the MPs and former Mayor  to connect with the community and address their concerns.

The party said the outreach aimed to foster open dialogue and provide an opportunity for the residents of Buxton village to engage directly with their elected representatives. Attendees had the chance to voice their concerns, ideas, and aspirations about pressing issues affecting the community, while also gaining insights into ongoing development projects and initiatives.

Roysdale Forde, MP, expressed his gratitude for the enthusiasm and active participation demonstrated by the community members during the event. He remarked, “It was truly inspiring to witness the unity and shared vision within Buxton village. The engagement we had with the residents reaffirms our commitment to representing their interests in the National Assembly. We value their insights and concerns, and will work tirelessly to address them effectively.”
Maureen Philadelphia, MP, echoed these sentiments, stating, “Building a strong partnership between the community and its elected representatives is crucial for the sustainable growth of Buxton village. This meet and greet session allowed us to listen, understand, and strategise alongside the residents. We are excited to work together, making a positive impact in their lives.”

Former Mayor Pt. Ubraj Narine, who attended the session, emphasised the importance of collaboration between different levels of government for the holistic development of the community. He said, “Buxton village has immense potential, and we must work together—elected representatives, residents, and community leaders—to harness it fully. By uniting our efforts, we can drive progress while ensuring that the diverse needs and aspirations of the community are met.”

During their outreach several issues were highlighted by residents and commitment given by elected representatives to make representation on the people’s behalf. group said the exercise concluded with an air of optimism and renewed determination among the residents and elected officials.  The MPs, former mayor and councillors promised to prioritise the issues raised and explore creative solutions to address them effectively, ensuring the community’s growth and prosperity.
