Georgetown, Guyana – Former minister of local government Nigel Dharamlall, who resigned amidst allegations of grooming and having sex with a minor, appears to have learned nothing from the experience and has been accused of harassing another teen contestant online. The disgraced former minister, who has been accused of being a predator, has taken to social media to mock and taunt a young girl, showing a complete lack of remorse for his alleged previous actions.

In a recent Facebook post, the former minister, whose name is Dhramall, wrote, “Good Day Friends. Dear #Citizens. Who was the pageant participant who didn’t know to walk in high-heeled shoes and fell down the other day? Some K-la something. Told she was cussing about me. #FreeSpeech #HereToStay. ONE LOVE!!!”

Guyana, Türkiye move to strengthen parliamentary cooperation

This post was met with a sharp response from Kayla King, the contestant he is alleged to have been mocking, and she wrote, “You just love pageant contestants, don’t you? PREDATOR. I hope you pay for all the nasty things you’ve done. Man lost his job so his favourite pastime is attacking young girls on the internet. Seems like a common theme. Stop worrying about who I am and worry about how you’re ever going to land yourself another job after the horrible things you’ve done.”

The exchange has raised concerns about the quality of persons selected by the PPP (People’s Progressive Party) to represent the citizens of Guyana in government. It highlights the need for a more rigorous vetting process to ensure that those in positions of power are held to a higher standard of conduct.

Dhramall’s alleged actions, both past and present, raise serious questions about his character and suitability for public office in the first place. His seeming lack of remorse and continued focus on this teen event candidate demonstrates a concerning pattern of behavior that should not be overlooked.

As the country continues to grapple with this incident, it is important to remember the impact that such actions can have on the victims involved and to support them in any way possible. It is also crucial to hold those in positions of power accountable for their actions and to demand better from our elected officials.
