Public Outrage Must Lead to Action for Special Needs Children

Dear Editor,
A complaint has been lodged, the cry of a 16-yr-old female indigenous student, to the President of this nation.  A gut wrenching, ball by ball documentation of how she was sexually violated, raped & sodomized, her virginity taken from her. And all this, allegedly by a Government Minister.
I penned this letter on the eve of Fathers’ Day, appealing to the Head of State, himself a father, to consider this heinous offense on a daughter of this nation, a serious crime and worthy of  his immediate priority action.
This matter must NOT be pushed under the carpet. Mr. President, your ministers MUST know that they too are subject to the laws of this land. The law is for the lawless. A thorough investigation must be done and if indeed the minister is found guilty he is to be removed from the Cabinet and Parliament as seen as unfit to be part of the Government and brought to justice.
You claim your heart is for all Guyanese and your aim is for Oneness of the Guyanese People. Now prove it. We cannot build this nation on Immorality, Cover-up, Bribery and Corruption.
That child needs help. You will not be helping the minister if he is guilty, by shielding him.
The Word of God declares:
“Righteousness EXALTS a Nation. Sin is a REPROACH to any people”
(Proverbs 14:24)
Do what is the RIGHT THING, Sir! Lest you be judged by the Righteous Judge of all the Earth, Almighty God.
Yours truly,
In Jesus’ Service
Bernice Walcott
