Unlock Purpose was the brainchild of two young women who live and work in the Guyanese society which encourages persons to do the bare minimum, to live in survival mode, to not consider that there is more to life than “going through the motion” or “going with the flow”.

I had the privilege of attending the “Unlock Purpose” event produced by Elsie Harry and Gabriella Chapman; on behalf of the Mocha Learning pod which I lead. The event was held last Sunday and it was incredible. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and both the facilitators and participants were fantastic.

The knowledge that was imparted during the event was very relevant, inspiring and practical. I left the workshop feeling motivated to put all that I had learnt into action. One of the most valuable takeaways for me was the prompt to write a personal manifesto that would serve as a compass to guide and realign me on the path I’ve chosen for myself.

In addition to this, I received information that will help me identify and monetize my purpose. I was also reminded to set ‘SMARTER’ goals for myself. These are goals that are Specific, Meaningful, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound, as well as Evaluating and Readjusting them when necessary.
” I left the workshop feeling motivated to put all that I had learnt into action” – Morvina Salza

Overall, I would like to express my gratitude to STEMGuyana for recommending me for the opportunity to attend this amazing event. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to unlock their purpose and achieve their goals.

In a requested comment, one of the organizers, Ms Elsie Harry stated that, “The goal of the workshop was to speak to women at their core, encouraging them to stop and reflect on the meaning of their lives- the thing that they feel they were placed on this earth to accomplish. We asked participants to consider the purposeful thought- you are the sum total of ALL of your gifts, ALL of your skills and ALL of your talents – that means that you have various options to tap into in order to succeed, if one doesn’t work, simply harness the next. You aren’t defined by one or even a series of failures, you are defined by your willingness to try until you and your success come face to face with each other.  Another goal was to help erase the notion of good things being only reserved for people with a certain background, since the message is- you’ve got to be intentional about creating your own positive reality.”
