The police detectives are currently investigating the death of 22-year-old Kevin Small of Angoy’s Avenue, New Amsterdam, following an alleged murder that occurred on Sunday, March 12, 2023. The incident took place around 12:00 hrs at Caracas Dam in West Canje, Berbice.

According to reports, Small was involved in a fight with three men that resulted in him being chopped about his body, leading to his eventual death. Enquiries have revealed that Small was in the company of two friends, including Shamar Wilson, when they decided to go for a swim in the canal at Caracas Dam.

Upon arrival, the three suspects approached Small and his friends, and an argument broke out, which quickly escalated into a violent altercation. In an attempt to escape, Small jumped into the trench but was grabbed by one of the suspects, who proceeded to inflict severe injuries on him.

As the situation intensified, one of Small’s friends, Shamar Wilson, also jumped into the trench to assist him. However, the two remaining suspects continued to assault them, using chop and lash techniques. Eventually, Small and Wilson were taken to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital, where Small was pronounced dead upon arrival, while Wilson was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit.

The investigation into this tragic incident is ongoing, and the police are appealing to anyone with information to come forward and assist them in their efforts to bring those responsible to justice.
