26-year-old Zanneel Williams was on Monday sentenced to four years imprisonment and fined $14.4 million. Appearing at the Diamond/Grove Magistrates’ Court where the decisions were handed out, Williams after changing her plea several times, recently admitted to the drug trafficking allegations.

She was last year arraigned before Magistrate Sunil Scarce at the Diamond/Grove Magistrates’ Court and opted to plead guilty to the offence of drug trafficking. She subsequently changed her plea to not guilty but last month changed her plea to guilty.

Last April, Williams was caught at the airport with 7.9 Kilos of cocaine concealed in the walls of one of her carry-on bags. 1.6 Kilos of cocaine was also found strapped to her body.

At the time Williams was a passenger on a Jetblue flight destined for the United States.

Last year former CANU officer Anil Sookhoo, and Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) officer Shameka Caesar were all charged in connection with the drug bust.
