Dear Mr. Mayor,

Recently it was stated in the press that the Deputy Mayor was not supportive of your stand in relation to the vendors who were removed from around the hospital. It seemed very strange that this would be the position taken publicly by your deputy, even though he may have harboured such thoughts privately. It would be educational to hear what your reaction is to this recent situation, and maybe get some clarification from the goodly deputy.

It is also rumoured that your deputy was not constitutionally elected, since he was elected to represent Section K Campbellville, but he has not resided at his stated address – Dadanawa St., Campbellville – since before 2015. Does this not present a problem for you? It is also rumoured that there is no evidence that he has even paid any GWI water bills or GPL electricity bills for all the years that he did reside in Dadanawa St., Campbellville.

Is it not time that we the residents of Georgetown be made aware of who our deputy Mayor really is? Recently on Facebook, there were some comments related to the Deputy Mayor’s actions in relation to his residing in Dadanawa St., would it be germane to hear from the Deputy Mayor, what his response is to these public allegations? Does his not having complied with the basic requirements of residency before he can represent the citizens of a ward, not present challenging constitutional problems for the city?

These are some very troubling rumours that are circulating in the city and answers to these rumours or allegations would go a long way in setting at rest the feelings of many citizens. It would also dispel the perception that there seems to be something fishy afoot. This recalls the age-old story of how the agouti lost his tail – “Captain, examine the horns, there may be a traitor on board.”

Please Mr. Mayor, do get some answers for your citizens, so our minds can be set to rest.

Sincerely yours,

Concerned Citizen
