Gov’t to sponsor health care training for Region One residents

President Irfaan Ali on Tuesday told residents from Mabaruma and surrounding environs in Region One (Barima-Waini) the Government of Guyana will develop a strategy aimed at delivering equitable access to services and opportunities to all its citizens, especially those in the hinterland and riverine areas.

Persons were told those with the entry requirements to become healthcare workers will be granted the opportunity to train and study through the Government.

According Ali the Government’s strategy is to “bring prosperity to every single home, to ensure that every single Guyanese family can live a better life, can live a better quality life, can have better access to education, better access to health care, better access to everything that make your lives easier, happier and better”.

The president, whose administration closed down the Charles Rosa Nursing School in Linden/Region 10, said healthcare is one of the Government’s pillars that is continuously being improved. This, according to him, is being done through access to medicines, medical supplies, equipment, human resources; the building and retrofitting of health centres and transportation to health centres, among other areas.
