– claim that much needed CT scan cannot be done there

The family of 7-year-old Lovely Lass accident victim, Jadon Cheefoon, wants the Ministry of Health to immediately removehim from the Infectious Diseases Hospital at Liliendaal over claims that the medical institution does not have the requisite equipment to treat him.

On Friday morning, Cheefoon’s mother was too distraught to speak, however, his aunt Mariesa Cheefoon told the Village Voice News that he urgently requires a CT scan to be done but it cannot be facilitated at the Infectious Diseases Hospital.

“They are saying that he cannot get to do a CT scan because he is having seizures and he is not doing well, and he can’t get to do a CT scan because he is not stable enough to move. Therefore, they don’t have the equipment to deal with him,” Mariesa Cheefoon told this publication.

It was explained that Jadon suffered external and internal injuries on Sunday, February 13, 2022 after being hit by a car just outside his grandmother’s residence on the Lovely Lass Public Road at about 11:05hrs.

The seven-year-old boy was immediately rushed to the Fort Wellington Hospital and subsequently transferred to the New Amsterdam Hospital before a decision was taken by doctors to send him to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPHC).

Mariesa Cheefoon said at both the Fort Wellington and New Amsterdam Hospitals, little Jadon was tested negative for the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19), however, it was while receiving medical attention at GPHC that a third test was done, and the result was positive.

“At the Georgetown Hospital, he did a full body scan, CT scan, and it was confirmed that he had a fractured skull, bleeding in the brain, his rib was broken…his knee was broken, his lung is punctured. Then they did a COVID test and the COVID test showed positive,” she explained.

The concerned aunt said it was then that Jadon was transferred to the Infectious Diseases Hospital. According to her, Jadon is constantly having seizures and requires another CT scan to determine the cause, but doctors at the hospital have reportedly said it cannot be done there.

Jadon’s family does not believe that he has COVID, and is demanding his removal from the Infectious Diseases Hospital. “He did two COVID tests and they were negative, and he had no signs of COVID before the accident or after,” she posited while noting that Jadon’s grandmother, with whom he lives, is COVID negative as well as his close relatives.

Jadon’s grandmother is with him in the hospital.
