The International Energy Conference and Expo Guyana 2022 (IECEG2022) on Thursday announced the endorsement of the Guyana Oil and Gas Energy Chamber (GOGEC) for the Energy Conference and Expo, scheduled for February 15-18, 2022 at the Arthur Chung Conference Center, Georgetown, Guyana.

This announcement comes almost one week after the International Energy Conference and Expo received backing from the Minister of Natural Resources, Vickram Bharrat. The conference, being held under the theme ‘Charting a Sustainable Energy Future’ continues to receive tremendous support from the local, regional and international business communities, regional government leaders, and industry experts.

In a statement released by GOGEC, President Mr. Manniram Prashad said “As the premier oil and gas energy chamber locally, GOGEC supports the energy conference and will be a key partner in promoting the conference as Guyana is embarking on an aggressive economic transformation agenda, driven largely by the prospects of the oil and gas sector”. Mr. Prashad added “The event will aim to have a broader energy discussion, beyond oil and gas and within the context of an energy transition agenda, which is in keeping with the country’s energy targets that are also linked to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Conference is intended to bring together both international and local investors as well as policymakers to advance Guyana’s energy transformation and transition agenda.” Participating companies at the conference and expo will share industry trends and announce future projects. These presentations will highlight upcoming business and investment opportunities that will provide valuable networking opportunities for delegates. There will also be a tradeshow element that will run alongside the event that will attract local, regional, and international exhibitors. The last day of the event will also incorporate tours of national attractions for participants.

Angenie Abel, Interim Chief Executive Officer of the IECEG2022 said, “We are delighted to have GOGEC partner with us for this inaugural event where the leading players in the sector will come together to help charter the way forward for energy in this part of the region. As we draw closer to IECEG2022 we expect to see many other organizations like GOGEC come onboard for this event. GOGEC has been able to bring together a number of energy companies under its umbrella, and like them, we share a passion for the development of the sector here and regionally.”.
