169 Covid deaths in September

The month of September alone is responsible for over 21 percent of the total COVID-19 deaths experienced in Guyana to date. As of Saturday the month recorded 169 COVID-19 deaths pushing the total tally then to 796.

Of the deaths in September, 8 or more persons who were fully vaccinated died; 10 or more partially vaccinated died and over 87 who were unvaccinated died. The youngest fully vaccinated person to die was 45 years old and the youngest partially vaccinated was 48.

The complete vaccination status of those who died for the month is unknown because the Ministry of Health only began presenting this information on September 13.

Meanwhile, September 10 is responsible for 7 percent of the month’s deaths with 13 deaths recorded on just that date. However, there were five other dates on which 8 persons died and six dates on which 7 persons died.

The deaths per region are as follows: Region One – 3; Region Two – 12; Region Three – 37; Region Four – 80; Region Five – 12; Region Six – 6; Region Seven -8 ; Region Eight – 1 and Region Ten – 8. Meanwhile, while 92 females died, 75 males died.

As of October 1, there were 228 new cases and 30 persons in the COVID-19 ICU. Over 3,600 were in home isolation, 142 were in institutional isolation and 4 were in institutional quarantine.
