Cambellville youth gunned down in Sophia

Jaleel Leow 21-year-old mechanic of Dennis Street Campbellville, Georgetown was killed by two men in Sophia on Monday.

The two males, one  known as ‘Big John’ or ‘Double Clip’ and the other known as ‘Brainer’ have not yet benen apprehended.

Police in a news release stated that enquiries disclosed that Felicia Thom a shopkeeper of Lot 703 ‘B’ Field Sophia, Nigel Williams; a mechanic of the said address,  Leow, Brandon Smith and two other friends were liming on the ‘B’ Field Sophia Access Road in front of the woman’s residence when suddenly the two suspects approached them from a southerly direction on two bicycles.

The suspects both dismounted and the one who was armed with two cutlasses went up to Felicia and said “Is problem you want”.

Felicia responded in the negative and herself and party began to walk away into her yard.

The other suspect then pulled out a handgun from his pants waist and walked up to Leow who was walking into the yard and discharged two rounds which struct him to his right upper back and he fell to the ground.

The gunman discharged two more rounds at him on the ground hitting him to his upper chest.

Leow managed to get up and ran to the back of the yard where he collapsed.

The shooter then fired another shot at Brandon Smith who was standing by the road side, which grazed him to his right upper hand; but he fled the scene.

The shooter and his accomplice then mounted their bicycles and made good their escape.

Leow and Brandon were taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital by Felicia Thom where Jaleel Leow was pronounced dead. The body is currently at the Georgetown Public Hospital mortuary awaiting post mortem.

Brandon Smith was treated and sent away. Checks were made for the suspects but they were not seen. Further enquiries in progress.
