To emphasise the U.S. Government’s focus on regional and government partnerships, climate change, public financial management, and private sector-led growth, USAID Regional Representative Clinton White is in Guyana to meet with government officials, CARICOM representatives, leaders in the business community, youth representatives and members of civil society organisations.

According to press release by the US Embassy in Guyana, this will be Mr. White’s first meeting with the President Irfaan Ali administration.  White will also participate in the opening ceremony of USAID’s Climate Change Symposium slated to start on Wednesday June 16 at 9 a.m.  At the event, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) will be signed with three regional partners, the Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre, the Caribbean Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology, and the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency. The MOU signifies the collaboration between the parties to build the region’s awareness, preparedness, and action steps to counter the impact of climate change.
