…staff to be tested for the virus
The National Insurance Scheme (NIS) has been forced to temporarily close its Head Office located at Brickdam and Winterplace, Georgetown after incidents of COVID-19 were detected there.
The NIS Management indicated on Friday that this closure takes effect from Friday, May 7, 2021, at 12:00 hours with operations expected to resume on Tuesday, May 11, 2021. The period will facilitate the testing of staff for the virus and the sanitizing of the building and compound.
Meanwhile, all local offices as well as the office situated at Camp and Bent Streets remain open to the Public. Pensioners are encouraged to utilize the services of these other locations. The NIS stated that it regrets all inconveniences caused.
To date, Guyana has recorded over 13,900 cases and over 300 deaths. In Region Four alone, accounts for 6,700 plus of the recorded cases. There were 128 new cases nationally as of May 6, 2021.
