May Guyana soar as the winds lift the kites in the sky

Dear Editor,

There is scarcely anyone who can say that their experiences living in Guyana since last Easter (2020) has not taken a toll on them; whether it be at any or all of the following levels: the individual, family, community, national, even globally. By any yardstick, the last year was not easy. The events of the past year tested one’s resolve, mental strength, patience, character and yes, even faith in God. The burden was tremendous for most, if not all, of the above-mentioned levels. At every level the media blitz was phenomenal and so there was much to chew on, digest, absorb and egest.

As another Easter (2021) approaches, let us endeavour to ensure that the ensuing year is a more prosperous and less stressful one. May the lessons of the triumphal resurrection of Jesus Christ from the grave energize us to roll back the stones (stressors) that prevent us from enjoying life in all its fullness.

During the next few days, our children will get the opportunity to exhale (or release some stress) as they fly their kites. May they do so safely, observing the covid-19 protocols; being mindful that one of the stressors of the last year, the covid-19 pandemic, is still with us. May Guyana soar as the winds lift the kites in the sky.

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!

Yours faithfully,

Bernel L.H. Wickham
