Price, Roberts, Granderson: Sacrificial Lambs Amid False Gods

Why charge these three, while the real murderers are free?

By GHK Lall- Captain Kevin Price.  Charged: murder (many).  Chief Mate Rondell Roberts.  The charge is murder (plenty).  Goods Superintendent Deleon Granderson.  Murder (73) hangs on his head.  Why these men?  The law is spreadeagled, justice tossed upside down in this country.  Wherever these charges started, there should be reversal.  There should be some reckoning.  There should be hauling before the bar of justice, those truly responsible.

How to reel in the heavyweights and the high?  When those three men are charged with murder, I hear others laughing at the slaughter of 100 Guyanese.  I discern their twisted, vicious, malevolence in the aftermath of tragedy.  Get somebody!  Get anybody!  Get the blame away from the heads and hands of those stained with the blood of 100 dead.  Blanket the woes of those scrambling to pick up the pieces.  The professional mourners came, descended from their thrones.  There’s truth to that concept: crime scene revisited.  Not by the Police, but by the perps.

Give three men a boat without a bottom, then charge them.  Give them only a paddle, then hold them responsible.  Give them an ancient sloop, a tired junk, a dilapidated sampan, to float across the ocean, then send the Police after them.  Guyana is now mad hatter’s country.  Those doing the charging (and those behind them) should look at themselves.

They should see what I see: pathetic creatures pretending at being people.  They should see what Guyanese see: those thoroughly unworthy to be streetcleaners, much less steering a country.  Send a man to fight a war without any tools, then charge him for cowardice, abandonment of post, subversion of mission.  Who are the biggest dodgers of duty in Guyana?  I discard ministers.  Prosecutors are sent packing.  The Police stand as small fish fried into the unrecognisable.  And unpalatable.

There’s a law for the poor, unconnected, and uncoddled.  There’s another law for those who are a law onto themselves.  The real criminals in this country are not the ones in prison suits at Lusignan and Mazaruni.  They are the ones with Armani suits, Coach bags, and Rolex watches.  Guyanese need relief from the oppressors, those twisting the course of justice, and laughing at the people.

Three men charged for the murder of 73.  Thus, law and justice in Guyana are murdered daily.  In broad daylight.  In a futile effort to peel the blood from the arms of those whose criminal negligence guaranteed this tragedy.  To disguise the depraved indifference that now generates the smell of death pouring from their mouths.  A huge official crime compounded by a bigger crime.  Murder one for three.  Guyanese now live with the stark and the searing.  An entity that has mutated into Murder Incorporated.  Of course, it finds scapegoats to pass that onto, and willing servants to deliver.

Let it be said loud.  Let it reach the rafters and beyond.  Charging Messrs. Price, Roberts, and Granderson with murder is a crime against humanity.  Guyana’s.  Murder charges for them represent a crime to cover the crimes of others.  Murder charges against them stand as an indictment on those who have failed the indigenous poor and all of Guyana’s impoverished.  It is an indictment of those who try to cover themselves by charging these three men.

In aggregate, hundreds of billions squandered murdered the hopes of Guyanese, those same stolen billions sucked the blood from Guyanese.  Yet not one, not one, has been charged, handcuffed, brought to justice.  There are innocuous audits to deal with them.  A delayed, dragged out, dragged down, impotent parliamentary committee that leads to much jawboning, slaps on the wrist, and then back to square one.  The usual major white-collar crimes and redistribution of Guyana’s oil wealth.

When men are charged for murder due to their being on duty on a boat with anemic engines, porous floors, paper walls, and probably heavy overload, those charges conceal the real murderers in high places.  Those hiding behind the corrupt institutions they erected, which are then deployed to charge those in the wrong place at the wrong time.  Men wrongly victimized.  The right ones rise high.
