The Guyana Beach Volleyball Association (GBVA) will stage The End Game 2026 at the Marriott Beachfront in Georgetown on September 26 and 27, with men’s and women’s pairs competing for championship honours. The tournament expands on last year’s local, men-only event, with overseas participation expected this year. Play is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. on both days.
A series of competitions has helped prepare local players for the event, including women entering the tournament.
“The End Game Tournament 2026 is significant because it represents another step forward for beach volleyball in Guyana. Expanding the tournament to include women’s competition and welcoming regional players gives our athletes an opportunity to test themselves against different styles of play and gain valuable competitive experience,” said Semira Greene, GBVA Assistant Secretary.
“For our local players, this is more than just a tournament—it is an opportunity to learn, build confidence, strengthen their partnerships and see where they stand against athletes from across the region. We hope this event will become a platform that continues to raise the standard of beach volleyball in Guyana and creates greater opportunities for our players to compete and develop,” she added.
Pairs from Suriname and the Cayman Islands are among the expected participants. Saturday’s group-stage matches will be played across two courts, with play scheduled to continue until 4:00 p.m. Sunday’s knockout rounds begin with the men’s quarterfinals, followed by the women’s and men’s semifinals.
Third-place matches are scheduled for Sunday afternoon, ahead of the women’s final at 3:00 p.m. and the men’s final at 3:30 p.m. The awards presentation and closing activities are scheduled to follow from 4:00 p.m.
The event also provides an opportunity to promote Guyana as a destination for sports tourism. GBVA President Juan Velazquez highlighted the Guyana Tourism Authority’s support with preparations and accommodation arrangements as part of the effort to host visiting competitors.
