Dear Editor,

Guyana’s Green Wave Band took the streets of Brooklyn, New York by storm last Sunday June 7th, 2026, as Guyanese, in their thousands, proudly ‘tramped and displayed the Golden Arrowhead,’ in an atmosphere of exuberance, along Church Avenue, in an historic parade of Guyanese patriotism, national pride, unity and cultural heritage, in celebration of Guyana’s 60th Independence Anniversary.

In a message of thanks to the Guyanese Diaspora, the Executive and Organising Committee of the United States Region of PNCR extend profound gratitude to all, for the exceptional dedication, unwavering commitment, and enthusiastic engagement and participation in the USRPNCR’s Independence celebration in New York.

In its message of gratitude, the USRPNCR Executive and Organizing Committee declared; “Your collective efforts have transformed this celebration into a resounding manifestation of national pride, unity, and cultural heritage. Through exemplary discipline, seamless coordination, and a vibrant display of solidarity, you have epitomized the enduring spirit of the Guyanese people while honoring the significance of this extraordinary milestone in our nation’s history.

We recognise that this achievement is a testament to the sacrifices made in the spirit of shared purpose and collaboration. From our Honourable Members of Parliament and Executive Committee to our Organising Committee, devoted supporters, and all participating members, your invaluable contributions have ensured that this celebration was not only memorable but also a true reflection of the strength and resilience of our Party.

As we commemorate sixty years of independence, we also acknowledge and celebrate your dedication and service. Your involvement exemplifies the enduring values of unity, pride, and progress that continue to guide our journey forward.”

We would also like to extend special recognition and thanks to Honourable Members of Parliament Dr. Terrence Campbell, Dr. Dexter Todd, Dr. Riaz Rupnarain, Saiku Andrews, Nima Flu-Bess, Ganesh Mahipaul, and our Public Relations representatives Shaniqua Haynes, Phillip Drayton, and Cynthia Rutherford for their active participation.

Our gratitude also goes to Phillis Montague-Paul (Chair of the New York PNCR Group), Bonita Montaque (Chair of the Diaspora Women’s Advocacy Association), Earl George (Treasurer of the USRPNCR), Sandra Harte (Secretary of the USRPNCR), as well as DJs Redrum and Wayne, and our dedicated supporters Dwayne Braithwaite, Wayne Archer, Nigel Chesney, and David Thomas.

The success of this event is a direct reflection of your hard work and commitment. We wish to express our heartfelt appreciation for your outstanding contributions and for representing our Party, the USRPNCR, and the Green Wave Band with such distinction.

Yours truly,
Standhope Williams
The U.S Region PNCR Executive and Organising Committee
