MASQUERADE ASSOCIATION OF GUYANA INC. EXPRESSES DEEPEST CONDOLENCES FOLLOWING TRAGIC LOSS

The Guyana Agricultural and General Workers Union (GAWU) extends warm greetings and best wishes to all Guyanese, and particularly to our Hindu brothers and sisters, on the joyous occasion of Phagwah 2026.
Phagwah, or Holi, is among the most cherished festivals on our national calendar. It commemorates the timeless and inspiring triumph of good over evil, reminding us of the enduring strength of truth, faith, and righteousness in overcoming adversity. Its observance carries profound spiritual meaning and offers an opportunity for reflection on the values that bind our communities together.
The festival also signifies the commencement of spring, a season associated with renewal, rebirth, and fresh beginnings. In this regard, Phagwah encourages us to embrace hope, optimism, and the promise of brighter days ahead, even as we confront challenges and uncertainties.
In Guyana, Phagwah occupies a special place in our rich cultural tapestry. The vibrant colours that define the celebration reflect not only joy and festivity but also the diversity and harmony that characterise our nation. Over the years, the observance has attracted Guyanese from all walks of life and has truly transcended religious boundaries, evolving into a national celebration of unity, togetherness, and mutual respect.
The message of Phagwah resonates deeply with our country’s journey. Just as the festival symbolises the victory of good over evil and the renewal of life, so too has Guyana steadily risen, overcoming challenges and difficulties through the resilience, determination, and collective efforts of our people. It reminds us that, united in purpose and guided by shared values, we can continue to build a stronger and more prosperous nation.
On this auspicious occasion, GAWU once again extends its best and sincere wishes to all Guyanese. May this Phagwah bring happiness, peace, good health, and renewed hope to you and your families, and may its enduring message continue to inspire unity and progress throughout our beloved country.
