Former Georgetown Mayor Ubraj Narine has responded to a recent social media post by Minister within the Ministry of Public Works Deodat Indar, addressing comments about ongoing legal proceedings between the two men.
The matter relates to a court action currently before the High Court, arising from statements made publicly. The minister has initiated legal proceedings seeking various forms of relief, while denying assertions made about him.
In a statement, Narine referenced a caption posted on the minister’s Facebook page which read: “Yubraj Narine, you run for a long time, but I finally get to serve you. You have a great opportunity now to back up your false claims in Court.”
“At the outset, I wish to make it explicitly clear that my name is correctly spelt Ubraj Narine, not ‘Yubraj Narine,’ as stated in the said caption,” Narine said.
He added, “I further wish to make it unequivocally clear that at no time have I hidden or run from anything I have faced. I am a citizen of this country, well known and easily found by anyone. I have, in fact, met Minister Indar on several occasions.”

Addressing the issue of service, Narine stated, “Contrary to the assertion being made, I confirm that today, at approximately 4:50 p.m., I was served at my residence by an individual who identified himself as a driver, and not a Marshal. Upon being served, I immediately contacted my attorneys.”
Narine said he intends to address the matter through the appropriate legal channels.
