People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR) Member of Parliament Natasha Singh-Lewis has officially resigned from the party, with immediate effect, and relinquished her seat in the National Assembly, citing a commitment to the people who placed their trust in her.

Her resignation was submitted to PNCR General Secretary Sherwin Benjamin today, with copies sent to PNCR Leader Aubrey Norton and Representative of the List, former President David Granger.  This publication is reliably informed the Party’s General Secretary acknowledged the resignation.

In her letter, Singh-Lewis wrote:

“It is with profound regret, but driven by deep-seated conviction and an unwavering duty to the people who entrusted me with their vote, that I tender my immediate resignation. This was a very difficult decision for me, but after consultation with my family, key stakeholders, my constituents and my mentors, this is my position.”

She further stated:

“Therefore, effective immediately, I resign my membership in the People’s National Congress Reform and consequently, pursuant to the relevant provisions of the Constitution of Guyana, I also resign my seat in the National Assembly.”

Singh-Lewis also expressed gratitude to senior party figures, saying:

“I wish to thank the party and former leader Mr. David Granger and former Leader of the Opposition Mr. Joseph Harmon for their confidence in me which allowed me to serve the 12th Parliament and the people of Guyana.”

Her resignation follows that of Amanza Walton-Desir, who also exited the PNCR and the National Assembly last Tuesday. Walton-Desir launched her new political movement, “Guyana Forward,” the following day.

Meanwhile, Singh-Lewis is keeping her next political move close to her chest.
