The just concluded visit by the 47th President of the United States, Donald J. Trump, has brought much needed focus to the Middle East. This region is portrayed as a war-torn, battered, vile and forgotten place. It is time to transform that image into something wholesome. It is pleasing to learn that the US President held meaningful discussions with his counterparts of Saudia Arabia, Qatar, Syria, and the United Arab Emirates about the future development of the region, and about the State of Palestine.
The AFC feels that it is time for the Palestine to be given due recognition and to find lasting peace and supports this new initiative for peace and progress. Guyana has Diplomatic Relations with the State of Palestine since February 21, 2013, and has supported almost all the Resolutions at the United Nations General Assembly and the United Nations Security Council.
May 15, 2025, was the 77th Anniversary of the NAKBA, a catastrophic event that has shaped the lives of Palestinians and their descendants. The Nakba, meaning “catastrophe” in Arabic, refers to the displacement, dispossession, and ongoing suffering of the Palestinian people.
The NAKBA is a painful reminder of the historical injustices inflicted upon Palestinians. In 1948, hundreds of thousands of Palestinians were forcibly expelled from their homes, leading to a massive refugee crisis that persists to this day. The trauma and loss experienced by Palestinians have been passed down through generations, leaving deep scars.
Today, Palestinians continue to face significant challenges, with the ongoing Israeli occupation and expansion of settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem undermine Palestinian rights and dignity, as The Gaza Strip remains under blockade, severely limiting the movement of people and goods, and Millions of Palestinian refugees continue to live in exile, often without access to basic rights and services. Despite numerous challenges, Palestinians remain resilient and determined to build a better future.
We call on the International community to Support, Recognize and Respect Palestinian rights to self-determination, Statehood, and a dignified life. We support, work towards a just and lasting solution to the Israeli Palestinian conflict, based on Internationallaw and the many United Nations resolutions, for durable solutions for Palestinian refugees, ensuring their rights and dignity are respect. The present conditions in Palestine are marked by ongoing conflict, displacement, and human rights challenges, due to the 16-year blockade has severely impacted the lives of Palestinians, with restricted access to basic necessities like food, water, electricity, and medicine. The recent Israeli offensive resulted in significant civilian casualties, displacement, and destruction of infrastructure, including homes, schools, and healthcare facilities.
As we commemorate the 77th anniversary of the Nakba, we reaffirm our commitment to justice, equality, and peace for all. We hope for a future where Palestinians can live in peace, dignity, and freedom, and where their rights are respected and protected.
The number 7 holds spiritual significance in ISLAM, CHRISTIANITY, and JUDAISM. In Islam, there are seven heavens, and Muslims circumambulate the Kaaba seven times during Hajj. In Christianity, God rested on the seventh day, and the Bible mentions seven deadly sins and seven virtues. In Judaism, the number seven is associated with the seven days of creation, the seven-branched menorah, and the seven weeks between Passover and the Feast of Weeks. This number often symbolizes completeness, perfection, and divine order.
The United Nations passed multiple resolutions related to Palestine’s borders, primarily focusing on the creation of a two-state solution and the establishment of borders based on the pre-1967 lines. A key resolution is UN Security Council Resolution 242 (1967), which calls for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from territories occupied during the Six-Day War, including the borders with Palestine.
The Alliance for Change believes, with this week’s His Excellency President Donald John Trump’s, Middle East Tour, to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Qatar and United Arab Emirates,  against the backdrop of the recent events – Israel/Palestine, Syria, and Nakba’s 77th Anniversary observances, the Alliance for Change, calls for a FULL and FINAL SOLUTION by dividing Palestine into separate Jewish and Arab States.
