CASH in KING : USD $334 BILLION with Buffett

Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway held a record $334 BILLION in CASH and EQUIVALENTS. This significant CASH PILE has been a topic of much discussion, with some wondering if it represents FEAR or A STRATEGIC MOVE for future investments. Buffett has stated that Berkshire will continue to INVEST  primarily in equities, with a focus on AMERICAN  and INTERNATIONAL Companies.

The QUOTE “CASH IS KING” emphasizes the importance of MANAGING CASH FLOW for BUSINESSES and INDIVIDUALS. It suggests that having a STRONG CASH POSITION  is CRUCIAL for SURVIVAL, especially during economic downturns or unforeseen circumstances.

The saying “Revenue is vanity, profit is sanity, but “CASH IS KING”  was popularized by Pehr G. Gyllenhammar, the former CEO of VOLVO, after the 1987 STOCK MARKET CRASH.

IMPORTANCE OF CASH FLOW:

A healthy business needs to generate positive NET CSASH FLOW from operating activities. This is essential for various reasons, including:

Financial Flexibility: Having SUFFICIENT CASH  allows businesses to seize opportunities, invest in growth, or cover unexpected expenses.

Avoiding Debt: A strong cash position reduces the need for DEBT FINANCING, which can be costly and limit flexibility.

Survival in Hard Times: During recessions or economic CRISES , companies with ample cash reserves are better positioned to NAVIGATE challenges and survive.

LIMITATIONS of FOCUSING SOLELY on CASH:

While cash is important, IT IS NOT THE ONLY MEASURE of a healthy business. Businesses also need to focus on PROFITABILITY, EFFICIENCY, and LONG TERM sustainability.

Cash in Personal Finances: The principle of “CASH is KING” also applies to personal finances. Having an EMERGENCY FUND and managing cash flow effectively can provide FINANCIAL SECURITY and PEACE OF MIND.

QUOTE. “ Warren Buffett’s ADVICE for INVESTORS  in times of VIOLENT VOLATILITY rings especially TRUE TODAY : Keep YOUR COOL, and you will be REWARDED in the LONG RUN.”

QUOTE.“ Warren Buffet: The stock market is there to SERVE you, and not to INSTRUCT you. And that’s a KEY to owning a GOOD BUSINESS , and getting rid of the RISK that would otherwise exist in the market,” he said in 1997.”

“BUY the RUMOR and SELL the NEWS ” is a TRADING STRATEGY where traders BUY a security based on speculation or RUMORS and then SELL it after the NEWS is officially released. The idea is that the market may already incorporate the news into the price before the announcement, and the actual release may not bring as much price movement as anticipated.”

Warren Buffett used to GIFT his family $10,000 every Christmas until he noticed THEY SPENT IT TOO FAST.

Warren Buffett is known for both his generosity and his frugality. That might be why he PULLED THE PLUG on large CASH GIFTS for his family after learning they were blowing through the money as quickly as they got it.

In a 2019 ThinkAdvisor interview, Buffett’s former daughter-in-law, Mary Buffett, recalled when he gifted her $10,000 in hundred-dollar bills. She reminisced, “As soon as we got home, we’d spend it, whoo!”
