The Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) held its 135th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, marking a significant milestone in the Chamber’s long history of supporting commerce and industry in Guyana. The event was highlighted by speeches from key figures, including outgoing President Mr. Kester Hutson, U.S. Ambassador to Guyana, H.E. Nicole Theriot, and Senior Minister in the Office of the President, Hon. Dr. Ashni Singh, who delivered remarks during the opening session.
During the meeting, elections were held following the dissolution of the 2024/2025 Council, resulting in the selection of the 2025/2026 Council members. The new 21-member Council represents a broad range of industries and businesses across Guyana. Among the newly elected members are prominent leaders from various sectors such as construction, insurance, media, technology, and energy, further strengthening the Chamber’s influence in both the private and public sectors.

Following the AGM, the new Council convened for its first Statutory Council meeting on Friday, March 21, 2025, to elect the Executive Management Committee (EMC) for the year 2025/2026. The EMC, consisting of six key leadership roles, was voted in as follows:

Senior Vice President: Mr. Gavin Ramsoondar (Zarc Properties Inc.)
Junior Vice President: Mr. Brian Edwards (Green Agro Service & Supplies Inc.)
Treasurer: Mrs. Melisa McRae-George (Guyana Payroll Solutions)
Secretary: Mrs. Kristia Ramlagan-Prescott (Lodestar Inc.)
Immediate Past President: Mr. Kester Hutson (Dapper Technology Inc.)
The Council also invited Past President Mr. Timothy Tucker and Past Senior Vice President Mr. Richard Rambarran to serve as Ex-Officio members of the Executive Management Committee.
The GCCI membership and Secretariat congratulated the newly elected Councillors and Executives and expressed anticipation for their leadership in guiding the Chamber through another year of growth and development.
