Ms. Melissa Atwell held in a Louisiana Detention facility.  On whose far-reaching authority, I ask.  By the hand of whose crawling, groping, treacherous ambushing of a Guyanese in a foreign locale?  I could understand the PPP Government having that kind of clout with the Kremlin, but Washington is shaping up to be the next axis of evil.  Aside from free speech pinned on the ropes and taking a battering in both Guyana and America, there are some other thoughts that stir.  In a time of the sordid and acutely sickening, all should be careful to stay sober.

GHK Lall

The first thought is what is underneath this move on Ms. Melly Mel?  Meaning, what is the quid pro quo?  Give us the head of Atwell on a plane, and the gates could swing wide open to receive a flood of deportees from all over.  Yes, that is correct.  From all over, as in an overstocked India and parts unknown.  The man with the strongest claim to the honor of the most notorious economist in the PPP would recognize the ‘double coincidence of wants’ operating.  Neat, I say; a little too neat for me.

Cash grant insult: can’t be Pres. Ali, never

Clearly, the PPP Government has its own ‘Wanted’ poster with Ms. Melly Mel’s name and face plastered in foreign precincts.  In the Old American West, it used to be ‘Dead or Alive.’  But this is the new America, where the real American Way is regaining its former ascendancy.

It is obvious that some mountains were moved to corner and capture Ms. Atwell.  If that makes her sound like an outlaw, I would contend that that is what the PPP Government made her.  By the way, when mountains crossed the mind, recollection came of that saying associated with the original Mohamed.  A real straight arrow was that one from the seventh century.  What can be said of the 21st century?

Imagine the fearsome power of ICE unleashed to catch and collect one lone female.  Let me step forward immediately, and say this for the consumption of the US Embassy in Guyana (and any interested local): Ms. Melissa Atwell aka Melly Mel does not rise to the level of desperado.

Though Venezuela is right next door, it is hard to attach her to the Tren de Aragua criminal gang.  But there was ICE in full battle gear and ready for war.  I congratulate the PPP Government of the honorable Anil Nandlall, MP, SC, et al, who did the unbelievable: they worked hard, succeeded mightily in making Melly Mel into Public Enemy Number One in both Guyana and the USA.

I have heard of the long arm of the law.  Guyanese are now learning of the long arm, the venomous tentacles, of the PPP (both the group and the government).  If only the honorable attorney general of Guyana would exhibit the same tireless zeal to catch some comrades in the PPP Government backed social media goon squad, then we can begin to talk about justice, democracy, and the rule of law in this country.

Which dissenting Guyanese voice is now safe?  Other than the voices protected by the PPP, ones sponsored by the PPP, and those cherished by the PPP for their dirty works, the answer is that no one is safe.  One doesn’t have to be a naysayer or a troublemaker.  All that Guyanese have to be is an honest citizen, and that alone marks them as people to watch, individuals to fear.  There is the risk dat doze who doan teef gon taak.  I call them latent threats.

A government given to rank uncleanliness and men and women with checkered pasts and a darker present label them plants, problem citizens, and probable Fifth Columnists waiting to pounce and tear apart at the PPP Government’s Achilles heel.  It is corruption.  Corrupt people with corrupt practices make for a national corruption club.  Due to conditions in America today, it is the best of times for the PPP.  It was Ms. Melly Mel’s call to glory and a cell in a federal facility in Louisiana.

The lengths to which some will go to get their tormentor.  It is a demented abomination of that noble calling of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow from the Ladder of St Augustine:

The heights by great men reached and kept

Were not attained by sudden flight,

But they, while their companions slept,

Were toiling upward in the night.

It is surprising that Melly Mel got caught napping, knowing that a deranged government was hot on her heels.  If I were Rickford Burke, some evasive action is overdue, because Guyana has a government that has its own Enemies List, and it stops at nothing to collar its targets.  Now Uncle Sam is called into the service of Uncle Stink and Dutty.  Relative to her surrounding cast, the AFC and WPA came out swinging.

Somebody sent me a writing that I thought was from Buckingham Palace or the Vatican.  It was that cool, lacking in any fire in the blood.  It was from the PNC standing for Melly Mel.  Me, I am just running the ward, doing my regular public service, for friends and foe alike, and the ones who fall afoul of the PPP.  Who is next, AG?  Who is left to get, Excellency Ali?  Surely, BJ has to have somebody on his radar….
