Millions in Life-Saving Insulin Left to Expire

There is no doubt that Venezuela is calculatedly and systematically moving pieces in  place for an eventual event, that is, the seizure and occupation of part of Guyana’s land.  In military parlance this is called a “fait accompli”. These activities are taking place just  below the threshold of actual war, but Guyanese should have no illusions that  Venezuela is not waging war against our beloved state. Building bridges, fortifying  Ankoko, cyber-attacks, and appointing governors are only the most recent indicators  that we have seen, but much more is taking place below the surface.

We are well advised to stay alert, and to stay engaged with our international and  strategic partners, as we are doing. However, our failure as a government is that the  people, and their elected representatives, are not being engaged, and instead, are  deliberately being kept in the dark. There has to be a whole of government and whole of  nation approach, that includes all stratas of our society, and all elected representatives.

If the PPP believes that it can confront this sinister plot alone, and exclude the ready,  capable and patriotic efforts of the Parliamentary opposition, “cat will eat our dinner”.  While the PPP/C parades and prances around to gain voters’ support, our neighbour to  the West is not playing.

We demand the immediate convening of the Foreign Relations Committee, and the re convening of a bi-partisan Border/National Security Committee to ensure all hands are  at work.
