KINGSTON,  Jamaica,  – The People’s National Party has again called on the United States to remove the economic blockade against Cuba and have denounced attempts to continue the destabilization of that country’s economy.

In a letter to Ambassador Sanchez, PNP Chairman Dr. Angela Brown Burke noted that it was     “ most unfortunate that our friend, the United States of America, would, after imposing its deplorable and devastating blockade against Cuba for over 60 years, unilaterally place Cuba on the list of state sponsors of terrorism and now seek to further destabilise your country by new methods of biased media reporting and alternative facts.”

“The PNP condemns such destabilisation tactics. Indeed, we denounce all attempts to undermine Cuba’s legitimate and peaceful efforts to develop your great nation, which, despite these unprecedented challenges, has pioneered so many admirable achievements and has been a steadfast and remarkable friend to the developing world.”

The PNP  reiterated its call for the removal of the blockade against Cuba and the removal of its name from the list of State Sponsors of Terrorism, “and reaffirm our solidarity with Cuba and its people.”

“We declare our genuine and lasting gratitude to Cuba for its tremendous assistance to our country throughout the years, which we will  neither take for granted nor will we ever forget,” the PNP said.
