Dear Editor

My heart goes out to the 20-year-old police constable who the police have now charged in connection with an allegation that he received money from the leader of the opposition for a certain sensitive video recording.

Abolition Does Not Erase Responsibility: Why President Ali and CARICOM Are Right on Reparations

Let me make it clear, two wrong could never make a right, even as my heart goes out to this young constable.  I ask the public and the media not to brand this young man a criminal.

In recent history every group and nation have in different ways collected information for their benefit, and more often than not, to tarnish the presumed enemy for obvious reasons.

The British, the Americans, the Europeans, and newly developed States in the East, West, North and South spend huge sums to collect information. Recall WWII when the celebrated American diver was caught and executed in the deep. As is the case everywhere when the operatives are caught, they are not known by their sponsors.

Yours truly,
Nigel Bacchus
