Why is USA selectively applying the laws on corruption? Why target good people and not the crooks running Guyana/
The US government has suspended the visa of Judge Gino Persaud pending a review. No reason given. Judge Persaud is not a security threat to USA. He has been a fair judge ruling on merits of a case, the law, and the presented evidence. He has not stolen money. He is not involved in corruption. In contrast, almost every government official, including ranking ones, is linked to corruption. Remember the Su saga. Why isn’t the visa of those tied to corruption under review or revoked already? And why are only Nazar and Azruddin Mohamed being sanctioned, indicted and extradited to USA? Others in government have robbed USA and Guyana more than allegedly taken by Azruddin and his father.
Corruption in Guyana represents a threat to American national security. Several Guyanese officials have looted more money than the US $50 million that Azruddin is accused by USA of cheating the Guyana government. The corrupt Guyanese officials have hundreds of millions in American dollars stashed away in China and the Middle East kingdoms. These money passed through the US borders in cash and gold; they should have been confiscated and the linked individuals indicted and extradited to USA to face charges. Why should Azruddin be indicted and extradited and not the real corrupt ones?
The question for Washington is what principle guide a review of visa for Gino Persaud when so many government officials are known to be involved in nefarious activities including posing a serious threat to the American homeland. Several corrupt Guyanese officials, not to mention Ernesto, Fuad, and others who are doing bidding of officials, are allying with China (Mr. Su) and Russia, both of which pose a security threat to USA.
