GEORGETOWN, Guyana — APAN Energy Services Inc. has provided financial sponsorship to Team Guyana Robotics as the young Guyanese prepare to represent the country at the FIRST Global Challenge 2026.
The company presented its contribution to the team as part of its support for STEM education and the development of young Guyanese in engineering, technology, innovation and problem-solving.
During the presentation, Varma Ramgobin, Commercial Manager of APAN Energy Services Inc., said the sponsorship reflects the company’s belief that investment in young people is critical to Guyana’s future.
“This contribution is far more than the presentation of a cheque. It is a statement of belief. It is an investment in your potential, in the power of education, in the promise of innovation, and in the future of Guyana,” Ramgobin told the students.
Ramgobin said APAN Energy believes that the strength of a country must be measured not only by the infrastructure it builds, but also by the young people it prepares to lead, create and solve problems in the future.
“The true strength of a nation is not only found in the infrastructure it builds today, but in the minds, character and vision it nurtures for tomorrow,” he said.
He described the members of Team Guyana Robotics as part of that future, noting that their participation in robotics is helping them develop technical skills alongside discipline, courage, creativity and determination.
Ramgobin also reminded the students that their participation on the international stage carries a wider responsibility, as they will be representing Guyana before competitors from around the world.
“When you enter the arena, remember you carry the name of Guyana with you. Compete with excellence. Conduct yourselves with distinction. Face every challenge with courage, and every setback with determination,” he urged.
He told the students that their achievement should not be judged solely by medals or their eventual placement in the competition, saying they had already demonstrated ambition and commitment by taking on the challenge.
“You have already succeeded by daring to dream,” Ramgobin said, urging the students to show what young Guyanese can accomplish when given opportunities to learn, create and innovate.
On behalf of APAN Energy Services Inc.’s directors, management and staff, Ramgobin wished Team Guyana Robotics success at the FIRST Global Challenge 2026 and encouraged the students to continue innovating with purpose.
“Return home knowing that you have made Guyana proud, not only by how you competed, but by who you are becoming,” he said.
The sponsorship provides additional support to Team Guyana Robotics as they prepares to carry the Golden Arrowhead onto the international robotics stage and showcase the talent and potential of Guyanese youth.
