India have announced their squad for the home ODI & T20I series against the West Indies. Shubman Gill leads the side which includes the experienced duo of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. KL Rahul has been named vice-captain for the series, replacing Shreyas Iyer, who deputised for Gill in the previous ODI assignment, against England. Iyer will lead the Indian team in the one-off T20I against Japan as well as the Asian Games that overlap with the one-dayers.
Nitish Kumar Reddy has been withdrawn from the Asian Games in favour of the ODIs. Naman Dhir, the Punjab batter, has earned his maiden call-up along with Auqib Nabi. Alongside Iyer, the other players who toured England but are not in the squad are Ishan Kishan, Washington Sundar, Axar Patel, Jasprit Bumrah, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh and Shivam Dube. All of them are part of the Asian Games, barring Rana, who was replaced by Yash Thakur.
Rishabh Pant, however, does not find a place in the ODI squad, with Dhruv Jurel preferred as the second wicketkeeper. Pant, meanwhile, will lead Rest of India in the Irani Cup.

The ODIs will be followed by the T20Is, for which Iyer returns as captain along with the rest of the T20I regulars. A full squad will feature in the T20Is, making their way back from the Asian Games.
