Guyana is celebrating a landmark achievement in sport after swimmer Shareefah Lewis became the first Guyanese woman to break the 27-second barrier in the 50-metre Freestyle, delivering a historic performance at the 2026 Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games.

Lewis produced a sensational swim, clocking a new personal best while establishing a new Guyana National Record, a feat that places her among the country’s most accomplished swimmers and marks another defining moment for Guyanese sport.
