The workshop brought together doctors, nurses, laboratory technicians, administrative and human resources staff to enhance their knowledge and practical application of Root Cause Analysis as a quality improvement tool. The facilitator of the workshop, GNBS Technical Officer II, Breana Chase Wilson, introduced participants to effective approaches for identifying the underlying causes of challenges, managing risks and nonconformities, and developing corrective actions to improve healthcare processes and service delivery.

During his opening remarks, Regional Health Officer for Region 3, Dr. Fiaaz Hassan, expressed gratitude to the GNBS for facilitating the workshop and highlighted the importance of understanding Root Cause Analysis in improving processes and activities within regional health institutions. He encouraged participants to make full use of the knowledge gained and apply the lessons learned within their respective areas of work to support continuous improvement.

GNBS Head of Corporate Communications, Lloyd David, noted that the Bureau was pleased to provide the training to healthcare professionals in Region 3. He explained that Root Cause Analysis is offered by GNBS as a professional training course to individuals, companies, and businesses seeking to better manage risks and nonconformities within their systems. He expressed confidence that the training will contribute to strengthening the healthcare system and improving services throughout the Region.

The GNBS remains committed to supporting capacity building across government and private sector institutions, which is crucial for promoting quality management practices across Guyana. The bureau will continue to take advantage of strategic partnerships to provide its services to enhance stakeholder performance through engagements that improve service delivery, effective problem-solving, and quality assurance.

More of these invaluable training sessions for health professionals will be conducted in other administrative regions of Guyana.
