China urges US, Iran to engage in talks, avoid renewed conflict

China on Wednesday urged the United States and Iran to implement their recently signed memorandum of understanding and resolve their differences through dialogue and negotiations after the two sides exchanged attacks amid renewed tensions.

“We are closely following the latest developments in the Middle East,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said at a press conference. “The resumption of hostilities is not in the interest of any party, and military means cannot fundamentally resolve the issue.”

She called on both sides to resolve their differences through dialogue and negotiations and avoid resorting to the use of force.
