ST. JOHN’S, Antigua — Cricket West Indies (CWI) is inviting women and girls from across Antigua and Barbuda to experience the excitement of international cricket firsthand by offering FREE admission for ladies on ALL five days of the second Test between the West Indies and Sri Lanka at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium from July 3 – 7.

The initiative forms part of CWI’s ongoing commitment to growing interest in the women’s game and encouraging greater female participation and support throughout the region. It also comes on the heels of the inspiring campaign by the West Indies Women at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in England and Wales, where they advanced to the semi-finals and represented the Caribbean with distinction, resilience and pride.

CWI believes there has never been a better time to encourage more women and girls to embrace the sport, not only as players, but as passionate supporters, future administrators, coaches, officials and ambassadors for the game.

“Our West Indies Women continue to show the region what is possible through talent, determination and belief,”

said CWI CEO Chris Dehring.

“Not only did our players inspire millions by reaching the semi-finals of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, but Caribbean umpires Jacqueline Williams and Candace La Borde also demonstrated the highest standards of excellence by officiating at the tournament, including the second semi-final. Their achievements remind us that women are helping to shape the future of West Indies cricket at every level. By opening our gates free of charge to women and girls throughout this Test match, we want to celebrate those achievements and encourage even more females to see cricket as a space where they can belong, contribute and thrive”,

Dehring stated.

The offer provides an ideal opportunity for families, schools, community groups and cricket clubs to attend the five-day contest and support the West Indies Men as they look to secure a home series win against Sri Lanka following their dominating performance over the visitors in the first encounter.

Beyond the action on the field, spectators can enjoy the vibrant match-day atmosphere that has become synonymous with West Indies cricket, making it a memorable outing for cricket lovers and first-time fans alike.

CWI encourages all women and girls to take advantage of this special initiative and be part of an unforgettable week of Test cricket at one of the Caribbean’s historic sporting venues. (Windiescricket)
