Message on the Occasion of United Nations Public Service Day June 23, 2026.

“Drawing from my work on the relationships communities have with water in the United States and the Caribbean, I want to reframe how we think about care,” Dr Trotz said in an invited comment, “caregivers notice changes first. They track exposure before systems do. They hold knowledge that can save lives and ecosystems,” she pointed out. Dr Trotz in inviting participation in this conference asks that “we stop treating care as background work and start recognizing it as advanced environmental intelligence.”

Dr Trotz address will also focus on the main theme of the conference, “when I think about Roles, Risks, and Urgency in a Changing Environment, I go back to a personal shoreline next to the Atlantic Ocean, right where Kitty meets Subryanville, that coast shaped how I understand water, risk, memory, and survival,” Dr Trotz said, pointing out that environmental change “is not abstract,” adding that “It arrives in homes, drains, kitchens, seawalls, gardens, bodies, everyday routines, and your gas tank”.

The two-day conference will feature several panel discussions and presentations. A full agenda will be made public closer to the conference.
