Dear Editor,
This letter is being submitted for the urgent attention of His Excellency the President, the Honourable Vice President, the Speaker of the National Assembly, Members of Parliament, opposition parties, and all relevant national, regional, and international stakeholders, including human rights bodies, civil society organisations, and diplomatic missions accredited to Guyana.
The submission outlines BUYDG’s continued concerns regarding the proposed Sexual Offender Registry, particularly issues relating to constitutional safeguards, due process rights, proportionality, rehabilitation, consultation, and compliance with Guyana’s obligations under international human rights law, including UN and OAS instruments.
We respectfully request that this submission be acknowledged and brought to the attention of all relevant decision-makers as part of the ongoing national dialogue on this important legislative matter.
