On this Arrival Day, we pause to honour the courage, endurance, and hope of those who arrived on these shores from Africa, India, Portugal, China, and elsewhere, shaping the foundation of modern Guyana. In doing so, we recognise the original presence of our indigenous brothers and sisters, who were the first to make this land habitable.

The journey of our ancestors to these shores was not easy. It was marked by struggle, resilience, and determination. Yet from that hardship emerged a rich, diverse nation—one people forged from many origins, bound together by shared history and common destiny.

The Alliance For Change (AFC) reflects this very spirit of unity in diversity. Arrival Day reminds us that Guyana’s greatest strength has always been its people—working together across differences to build a better future.

As we commemorate this important day, let us recommit ourselves to a Guyana where opportunity is shared, dignity is protected, and every citizen—regardless of heritage—can thrive in peace and prosperity.

Happy Arrival Day, Guyana.
