The Insurance Association of Guyana supports the recent advisory issued by the Guyana Fire Service regarding the safe storage of fuel.

The Association urges members of the public to avoid the use of non-approved containers, including drink bottles and other unsuitable vessels, as these pose a significant fire and explosion risk and may result in serious damage, injury, or loss of life.

Policyholders are reminded that adherence to established safety standards, including those of the Guyana Fire Service is essential and may have a bearing on insurance coverage in the event of a claim.

The Association encourages all households and businesses to comply fully with the recommended guidelines as part of prudent risk management and the protection of lives and property.

Protection begins with prevention. Responsible actions today can prevent catastrophic losses tomorrow.
