The Guyana National Bureau of Standards (GNBS) has announced that Synergy Weight Loss Centre & Medical Spa is among nine businesses certified so far this year under the GYS 901 Quality Management System Standard, a national framework designed to support Micro, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (MSMEs).

The certification was granted on April 2, marking a milestone for the medical spa, which offers wellness, aesthetic and weight management services, including body contouring and non-surgical procedures. GNBS noted that Synergy is the first medical spa to achieve certification under the GYS 901 programme, reflecting its commitment to structured operations, consistent service delivery and customer satisfaction.

The certificate was presented to Chief Executive Officer Dr. Mareshah Yorrick by GNBS Technical Officer Rachel Cecil, in the presence of GNBS Executive Director Trevor Bassoo and other officials and staff. Bassoo commended the company for its achievement, stating, “You should feel proud of your accomplishment… Once you have a good product and provide an exceptional service, people will continue to return and recommend others to come to you. This is the first step; you must now maintain the certification and uphold excellent customer service.”

Dr. Yorrick said the certification has strengthened the company’s internal systems and reinforced its focus on delivering high-quality, consistent services. The GYS 901 programme provides a framework for improving operational efficiency, establishing clear procedures and meeting regulatory and customer requirements, while positioning businesses to compete in regional and international markets.

Other businesses certified under the programme this year include Satro Medical Centre, Evolve Business Solutions Inc., Maliyah’s Kitchen, Qualitest, Ashdel Enterprise, Safe Space Solutions, J&W Training and Consultancy and the Guyana Small Business Resource Centre. GNBS has encouraged other enterprises to pursue certification as a means of enhancing competitiveness and unlocking growth opportunities.
