President Irfaan Ali held a high-level meeting on Saturday with CARICOM Chairman Dr. Terrance Drew, Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, as leaders finalize preparations for the 50th Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government, scheduled February 24–27, 2026, in Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis.

The meeting took place at State House in Georgetown and focused on strengthening regional cooperation and advancing ties between Guyana and other CARICOM member states.

President Ali reiterated Guyana’s commitment to CARICOM’s agenda and stressed the pursuit of collaborative solutions to challenges facing the region.

Officials from both governments also discussed deepening bilateral relations and broader CARICOM objectives, including economic cooperation, security, and sustainable development.

The outreach by CARICOM Chairman Drew underscores ongoing diplomatic engagement among regional leaders ahead of the summit, which is expected to address pressing issues such as economic resilience, migration, energy security, and regional policy alignment.
