The role of Leader of the Opposition is fundamental to the preservation of democracy, accountability, and balanced governance. It carries the responsibility of principled oversight, constructive criticism, and steadfast advocacy in the national interest. Mr. Mohammed’s elevation to this position comes at a critical time for our country, when strong, credible, and independent opposition leadership is essential to safeguarding democratic norms and ensuring that the voices of all citizens are heard.

I wish Mr. Mohammed wisdom, courage, and clarity of purpose as he undertakes this responsibility, and I trust that he will discharge his duties with integrity, respect for the rule of law, and an unwavering commitment to the people and the Constitution of Guyana.
