On 7 January 2026, Dr Wayne Wesley, Registrar and CEO of CXC®, addressed the regional media, reaffirming the Council’s mission to provide world-class certification for Caribbean learners. Over 10,000 candidates are currently sitting the January CSEC® examinations, administered on-screen as part of CXC’s digital transformation.

Dr Wesley outlined key initiatives, including disaster recovery support for Jamaica following Hurricane Melissa, strengthened literacy and numeracy standards, the pilot of the Caribbean Targeted Education Certificate (CTEC), and expanded inclusion measures for visually impaired candidates. He emphasised CXC’s renewed vision to “Ignite the Potential and Shape the Future of Caribbean People” in 2026 and beyond.
